A few of us are back in the office today and it’s been quiet enough to do some catching up, which included going through the lovely Christmas letters we received. It’s always nice to hear how others sum up their year as they review their blessings. One of those letters came to us from Unity House, which is just around the corner, down the hall and up the stairs from the Admin wing where we work.
Even though we see someone from Unity House almost every day, it was nice to hear them describe their home and the people who live in it. And since today is Tuesday, which is dedicated to introducing L’Arche people to the wider community, we asked them if we could share parts of the Unity House letter on our blog. Today we introduce you to Lawrence:
Lawrence, the Olympian has once again brought back the awards home from his annual sporting event Operation Track Shoes held in Victoria. We also enjoy reminiscing about the momentous limousine trip he took to Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal along with Theresa, Christina, Fairy, Alison, Tabea and Linda on the way to Victoria. We also think, Lawrence, the real gentleman, might also be the record holder for harmoniously living with at least six wonderful women in the same household for years.
Stay tuned to learn more about the people of Unity House and others in the L’Arche Greater Vancouver community.
By the way…you may have heard about this momentous limo trip as we mentioned it in our Fall 2009 newsletter. This trip was originally planned as a one-time event since the limo to the Ferry Terminal could accommodate more people and therefore was less expensive than hiring 2 taxis. As it turned out, the limo driver (Mike) had so much fun with the L’Arche crowd, he has offered to chauffeur a group from L’Arche at no cost to us occasionally, just because he likes being around the happy people from L’Arche.
