On Friday, December 3, the L’Arche community started the holiday season off with our Third Annual Benefit Concert. Friends and family joined us at St. Margaret’s Cedar Cottage Anglican Church to hear the amazing voices of the Corpus Christi Chamber College Choir. The audience also had a wonderful time joining in for the carol singalong portion of the program. The concert was also a celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and it was great that our community could be together to recognize this significant day.
Thanks to our generous guests, $1,665.88 was raised for L’Arche Solidarity. L’Arche Solidarity is an initiative to develop relationships between L’Arche communities in North America and with those in developing countries. L’Arche Greater Vancouver is twinned with Brazil and we have been raising funds through pop bottle recycling and other small initiatives. This concert was a huge success and we are getting closer to meeting our fundraising goal for our friends in L’Arche Brazil.
Thank you to the members of the Corpus Christi College Chamber Choir, their Artistic Director Tony Araujo who gave us their time and talent. Thank you as well to St. Margaret’s Cedar Cottage Anglican Church for allowing us to use their building, our guests, generous donors, volunteers and the hard work of the Solidarity Committee for making the evening such a success.
