A few years ago one of our very own assistants, Annelise, went to Australia as a part of the L’Arche International experience program. This program provides long term employees of L’Arche with a short sabbatical in a different country.
Annelise spent 9 weeks with people from a variety of other L’Arche communities. They got to know one another, spent time praying, sharing, sitting around the campfire singing and laughing, and meeting the local wildlife (wallabies and kangaroos). They also made a pilgrimage to the famous Uluru, in the heart of Australia.
This unique experience is not just about exploring new lands and meeting new people, however, it is truly an adventure for the soul. Annelise still remembers how this trip mad her feel, she left “incredibly renewed, touched by the hospitality of the heart and in love with a whole continent and it’s beautiful L’Arche people.”
During her trip, Annelise was interviewed about L’Arche by an Australian radio station . Click here to listen!
