Ark Builders Brunch: Thank you for keeping our Ark afloat

Although we are grateful for all of our supporters year-round, we dedicated this past Saturday, October 13th to thank our “Ark Builders”* who help our community thrive.

The morning was filled with good food, good company, and good spirit. Over some delicious pastries, fruit, yogurt, tea and coffee, our Ark Builders were given the opportunity to get to know some of the members of the L’Arche Greater Vancouver community. Sitting at the table with them were some of our board members, directors, core members and assistants. The Ark Builders also had a chance to hear how their contributions have made an impact on our community.

Brunch was followed by a moving speech from Diane Bruce, a parent of one of our core members who gave us her perspective and a presentation from Denise, our Executive Director who shared the community’s 2013 theme and hopes for the upcoming year. It is our pleasure to shine a light on the Ark Builders whose generosity and care for L’Arche have allowed our community to be where it is now.

So once again, to our Ark Builders – thank you for keeping our Ark afloat.

This event would not have been a success without our event volunteers: Zwaantje, Lily, Joyie, and Helena. Thank you for all your hard work!

We would also like to thank the generous staff at Starbucks on Marine Way for supplying coffee to all our guests.

“Many people are good at talking about what they are doing, but in fact do little. Others do a lot but don’t talk about it; they are the ones who make a community live.”

– Jean Vanier, Community and Growth

*Ark Builders are individuals who contribute $500 or more each year to the work and mission of L’Arche Greater Vancouver.  To learn more about how to become an Ark Builder click here.
