Jane’s Story: The Adventures of Wayne and Kevin

Wayne and Kevin, Wayne’s life skills support, are one of the most fun duos I know.  They are always out and about and ready for an adventure.  One of their favourite adventures is going for long, scenic drives with a must-have pit stop at a hamburger joint.  They always have their eyes peeled for good eats at good prices!  Their other favourite adventure is going out to the movies.  They are the most up-to-date movie buffs in Creation House!

More recently, they’ve ventured to the wild outdoors to try their hand at fishing!  Just this past week they brought back 3 fresh trout and we cooked them on the BBQ for dinner.

Wayne and Kevin

Wayne and Kevin are also hard workers.  Every Monday and Thursday they head out to the Salvation Army in New Westminster to sort hangers and bags of clothing to be passed on to those in need.  They also help L’Arche Vancouver’s Solidarity Committee regularly by delivering pop cans to the recycling depot.

Wayne has learned many new skills through his adventures with Kevin and he continues to learn each time they go out!  We have seen Wayne grow and flourish as he is given opportunities to use his gifts and share his passions.  Wayne and Kevin’s relationship truly demonstrates the value of mutual relationships and how much people can grow as a result of them.  We are thankful for Kevin and his friendship with Wayne and all of us at Creation.
