Last Friday, representatives from Canada Life and L’Arche gathered to celebrate the long-awaited truck that was purchased with the proceeds of the 2014 Canada Life Charity Softball Tournament. Members of L’Arche’s Neighbours Helping Neighbours program were present to thank Canada Life and tell them how much the new truck will help them as they provide maintenance and gardening services for the elderly and people with disabilities in Burnaby, South Vancouver and New Westminster.
The new truck will make it possible for the Neighbours Helping Neighbours carry another team member in the cab and fit more equipment in the truck bed. Canada Life representatives were pleased to meet the team and see the results of their fundraising efforts.
L’Arche is grateful for the support and friendship Canada Life has given us over the years. Previous Softball Tournaments have resulted in a new van for the Emmaus Day Program, an accessible vehicle for Creation House and now the Neighbours Helping Neighbours Truck. Fundraising from the July 24, 2015 tournament will go towards a new vehicle that will be shared by our six L’Arche homes.
